Why Dan Rutherford? He is simply the most qualified. The Republican from Pontiac, State Treasurer Dan Rutherford announced his candidacy in the election for governor of Illinois in 2014. For a Republican, Illinois is a hard state to win, but as State Treasurer, Dan received 50% of the vote in a four person race and received 66,000 more votes as State Treasurer than Pat Quinn got winning the Governor’s race in 2010. Dan Rutherford is the only Republican in the race for Governor who has actually won a state-wide race.

Speaking in the village of Savoy during a trip across Illinois just after filing his candidacy for Governor, Rutherford pointed out that the eligibility criterion should play a significant role in the Republican primaries. It’s true that all too often Republican candidates in Illinois are clouded with much controversy. Rutherford is not a politician of this type; he can look to what unites rather than what divides us. As a Republican he is tied to traditional Republican values of individual liberty and pro-business policies. He emphasizes that he will focus on creating a favorable climate for the development of large and small businesses in our state. Illinois must return to being a competitive state that is known for its favorable business climate. Only by supporting business we will create new jobs. Creating jobs will help all Illinoisans including those who live in predominantly African-American neighborhoods of Chicago where unemployment is 55% and where crime rates are at an all time high. Jobs are a sure way to reduce crime and give people a chance of getting back on their feet. Therefore, getting everybody back to work is so extremely important that it should be a top priority for all politicians.

Dan Rutherford’s career in public service began following his graduation from Illinois State University as a legislative assistant in Springfield. In the GOP Primary of 1980, Rutherford coordinated a congressional district for then Governor Ronald Reagan’s campaign for the Presidency. As millions of Americans, he believed in Reagan’s economic recovery program to repair the damages done b Carter’s liberal economic policies. In 1993-2002 he served in the state Illinois House of Representatives, then he served as a state senator in Springfield from 2003-2011. Long years of public service and an intimate knowledge of every corner of our state makes Dan a uniquely qualified candidate for the gubernatorial seat.

Dan Rutherford as treasurer of the State is very well acquainted with the financial condition of our State and is also painfully aware of the need to reform the state pension system. During meetings with voters in Illinois declares his willingness to cooperate with the House of Representatives and the Senate, and work hard for the enactment of the necessary reforms. In addition Rutherford has repeatedly pointed to the negative consequences for taxpayers in the event of further reductions in the State’s credit rating resulting in higher costs of debt financing.

Dan Rutherford promises fiscal responsibility, to lead with conviction and courage through wise stewardship, to eliminate our massive debt, to fund our liabilities, create jobs and provide financial security to our taxpayers. For the reasons set out above and Progress for Poland strongly endorses Dan Rutherford for Governor of Illinois.

Dlaczego Dan Rutherford?
